I have to tell you about my favorite part of our Carnival cruise:  the day at Half Moon Cay.  This is a private island only used by the cruise lines.  The ship docks off the shore and you board a smaller boat to go to the island.

It’s beautiful.  No shops or restaurants.  No hustle and bustle.  Just sand and sea.

The water is so blue to look at and so clear when you’re in it.  It’s cool, but not cold.  It’s flat like a pool.  You can walk way out and still be able to stand.  It’s great for poor swimmers like me!

There are ton of lounge chairs and you can rent shade for them at a reasonable price ($20 for the day).  Rafts are also available to rent.  There are lots of other things you can rent there – scuba stuff, jet skis, sail boats, tours, etc.  We brought our own scuba stuff and spent the day swimming and floating.  I also spent a bit of time reading in my shaded chair.

A barbecue lunch is provided.  There are bartenders walking around if you want a beer or cocktail.

It’s bliss!

I’ve got some great tips for Half Moon Cay for you! Keep reading for MUST HAVE info to make your day fantastic!

  1. And here I thought spray on sunscreen looked like such a genius invention on tv! 🙂

    The picture is breathtaking. 🙂

  2. We are going there in November, do we need fins or just goggles and snorkels? Our fins are big and would be cumbersome to pack.

  3. We are a out to go on a carnival cruise but it’s not going there. Mahogany Bay, Belize and Cozumel.
